Centrepoint Church What's important

What’s important to us?

Our commitment to- and relationship with- Jesus forms the bedrock of all we do. We also believe that the church is at the very centre of God’s vision for community. We prioritise relationships because we believe we were created for them. We believe that the church is for everybody and that Jesus said “follow me” at the exclusion of none. As such, all are welcome at Centrepoint Church. Our meetings reflect our love for the Bible and our eagerness to know the Holy Spirit.

Our vision is very simple, to put Christ in the centre of our lives, the church, the local community and throughout Guildford.

Centrepoint Church Partnership

Partnerships

We are part of Commission, a family of churches that are part of Newfrontiers, with churches in the UK, India, Portugal, Spain and elsewhere. These churches actively work together to see those affected by poverty and those who have never had the opportunity to consider Jesus for themselves.

Centrepoint Church Get out of bed

What gets us out of bed?

Guildford is a large and strategic town so Centrepoint Church has a vision to establish a large and strategic church in the centre of the town. This is not because we seek to be the biggest or the best church in the town but because, together with the other churches, we want to work with Jesus to improve the lives of the many who live here.

We often talk of ‘living life well’ and our conviction is that Jesus inspires this. As we celebrate much of the great work already being done to nurture and care for our town- much of it from secular organisations- we want to be as effective as we can in playing our part.

Centrepoint Church kids

Kids

Centrepoint Church loves kids and recognises their huge value to the life of the church. We want to see our kids laughing, learning and developing a lasting faith. We aim to inspire our kids to become purposeful, compassionate role models of the future.

Centrepoint Kids runs at our morning gatherings, and provides a place for kids to worship Jesus, to enjoy His presence and to grow in loving God, loving life and loving people. The kids stay in the main service for the first 20 minutes, and then an announcement will be made letting you know it’s time to take your children to their respective age groups.

Centrepoint Church students

We love students!

Uni life provides an amazing opportunity and a unique challenge to Christian students. We are thoroughly committed to providing a ‘home’ for students to feel supported, envisioned and equipped to make Jesus famous on campus. We’d love to see you at our Sunday gathering.

Bear Grylls did Alpha

The Alpha Course

“What Alpha offers is permission, rare in secular culture, to discuss the big questions - life and death and their meaning.” The Guardian

Over 2.5 million people in the UK have been on Alpha. It’s a 7-week course designed particularly for people who don’t normally go to church, but is open to anyone and explores questions such as “Who was or is Jesus?”, “Why did Jesus die?” “ and “What is life really all about?”.

What can I expect?

Each session begins with some food, followed by a talk, then a chance for everyone to discuss the talk and ask their questions. For more information and to find out when our next Alpha Course begins please get in touch.

Connect Groups

In addition to our larger meetings, we also meet regularly in smaller groups, which we call Connect Groups. The groups each have a different theme but they all share the same vision, to have a positive impact on the different communities that make up our town. The groups are where friendships can really be developed and, crucially, where we can explore the Christian life together and help each other to live life well.

If you’d like to know more about our Connect Groups please get in touch.

Overseas mission

We believe Christianity is not just good news for Guildford. We are actively involved in improving the lives of people affected by extreme poverty in the Kibera slums in Kenya, undertaking regular trips to further this precious relationship.

In a wider sense, the Commission family of churches of which we are a part works with people in India, Portugal, Spain and elsewhere.

City

Connect, chat, encourage, advertise, pray, meet...

At Centrepoint we think it is important to have a strong, welcoming and connected community. However the larger we grow, the harder it is to make friends, meet people and communicate with everyone we'd like to. What we need is a quicker, more intelligent, and easier way of staying connected. So the answer is an online community-building tool called 'The City'.

The purpose of The City is to enhance real life community within the church to: connect people more easily, to communicate more effectively and to build stronger community. ConnectGroups can use The City to organise gatherings and share prayer requests, our serving teams can organise themselves on The City, and it provides a great way for new people in Centrepoint to get connected and find out what's going on in the life of the church.

How do I sign up?

You can sign up to The City at the Connect Point area at one of our Sunday gatherings. Already have an account on The City?

Getting Involved

Whether you have been around a while or you are new to Centrepoint there are plenty of opportunities to get stuck in and play your part.

The radical commission of Jesus to his church was not to make members but disciples. So why do we have a membership? To some the idea of becoming a member is more about a dusty list of names, or people paying their subscriptions to an organisation. The New Testament however, speaks about being members of the body of Christ and members of God’s family. Put simply, members are the church!

Membership is a way to express your commitment to the people that make up the local church. It also enables church leaders to know for whom they are responsible and accountable, before God.

Fill out our enquiry form to find out more about joining us in membership.

Invest in the vision

As a church our vision is to put Christ in the centre of our lives, the church, the local community and throughout Guildford.

Centrepoint Church is made up of individuals from different backgrounds, cultures and generations who have encountered the love of God and been adopted into his family. Worshipping Jesus and serving one another we are committed together to the mission he has called us to in Guildford and beyond. We love having new people coming to our meetings and we want to help those who have become Christians find their place with us where they can experience genuine community, grow in their love for God and commit to serve in the mission he has called us to.

Jesus taught us that what matters is our heart when we give. He did not command us to tithe or to give a specific amount. Instead he told us to be generous, cheerful and lavish towards God and one another.

At our Sunday meetings there is always an opportunity to give via cash or cheque. But if you are a guest or visitor you are under no obligation to give.
